what IIWEC is about
When the gospel is preached, people respond. Jesus once said "The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few". In this day and age in Australia, we see this statement becoming more apparent. The hindrance to effective evangelism hasn't been the lack of a harvest but because there is a lack of labourers. There is a need for labourers who are equipped and committed - ready to go out and collect the harvest.
So, how does someone get equipped for service? Until recently, few opportunities existed in Australia for formal training in soul winning, short of pursuing a ministerial degree. IIWEC was established to supply this need by providing lay members with the opportunity to dedicate a few months or a year to practical soul winning training. IIWEC exists to quickly equip lay people with effective methods and skills through practical, hands on experiences to be successful soul winners.
IIWEC is a ministry of It Is Written Oceania, and is managed by Fountain in the City SDA church as part of the Greater Sydney Conference. It is located in Sydney, with most of the field work focussing around the CBD and inner west. IIWEC’s inaugural session was in 2008, with 15 students, and grew to 24 students distributed among 3 churches in 2009. We have had students from all over Australia as well as America, New Zealand, Sweden, England and South Africa. IIWEC looks set to continue to grow in 2010.
